The county administrative office has posted Supervisor Jimmy Smith’s letters of resignation to Gov. Jerry Brown and to his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors. Of note: Smith doesn’t plan to step down until Aug. 3.
“A serious illness has has preempted my long planned retirement from the Board this January,” Smith tells the governor. “My doctors are prescribing a very powerful treatment that will have immediate as well as cumulative physical impacts that will last for about 6 months. The doctors have directed a significantly reduced work schedule and ultimately a lot of rest.”
Smith’s letters posted below.
