From the Eureka Police Department:
On 5/15/12, at about 10:13 AM, investigators with the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant at a residence on the 800 block of N Street, Eureka. The warrant was obtained after POP received information a subject was selling heroin from the residence.
The suspect, resident Joel Abraham Guevara (age 29), was located and detained at the scene. During a subsequent search of the residence, investigators located approximately 137.4 grams of heroin (around 4.8 ounces), 4 grams of methamphetamine, $13,358.00 cash, digital gram scales indicative of drug sales activity, drug use paraphernalia (needles, cooker spoons, burnt foil, pipes etc.), over 200 grams of processed marijuana (approximately 7 ounces or a ½ pound), and a loaded Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic handgun with extra ammunition. The cash was seized as suspected drug sales proceeds.
Guevara was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of heroin for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of methamphetamine for sale, maintaining a space for drug use/sales, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of prescription medication.
