On May 19, 2012 at 6:20pm, officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to Four Star Mini Storage located in the 200 block of North Fortuna Boulevard for a report of a burglary.Upon arrival, officers discovered that numerous firearms, ammunition, a small safe containing cash and silver liberty coins had been taken from the locked storage unit. Among the firearms were some family heirloom battle rifles, two pistols and German infantry rifles. Some of the ammunition consisted of large amounts of .40cal and 9mm ammo as well as 8mm rifle ammo.
Upon further investigation, Officers discovered that that suspect(s) gained entry into the storage unit through an adjoining wall. Latent fingerprints prints were located at the scene and are currently being examined for identification.
The department is asking for the public’s assistance, if anyone was at the Four Star Mini Storage Facility between Friday May 11th and Wednesday May 16th 2012 and observed anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. We ask that you please notify the Police Department.
