Maybe it’s no surprise that the Lost Coast Outpost isn’t on the federal government’s email blast list, but I don’t know anybody who knew this was happening. So: Sorry for the short notice.
Still, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is holding a public meeting at the Wharfinger Building tonight, 6-9 p.m. They’re going to be briefing locals on the decommissioning of the Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant — the first nuke plant west of the Mississippi, which has been inactive for many years now. The NRC is specifically seeking public input on the pace and planning of decommissioning process.
