UPDATE, 3:02 p.m.: CenterArts’ Michael Moore assures your Lost Coast Outpost that the band will be here on time and that the show will go on! Humboldt will have its Cake and hear it too!

Oh, you have got to be kidding us. Alternative band Cake, who have a sold out show scheduled tonight at the Van Duzer Theatre are getting a taste of what the rest of us already know: Flying into Humboldt ain’t easy.

Well, here we go. Will the band who first burst onto the national scene with 1996’s hit “The Distance” go the distance? Are they going for speed? One thing is clear: If they have it their way, they will not leave Humboldt music fans alone — ALL ALONE! — in their time of need.

First snag: The band has run into a long line of cars on the Golden Gate Bridge. The image below was posted to their Facebook page at 1:54 p.m.:
