Humboldt Bay Fire Press Release:
Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire at 409 W. Sonoma Street in Eureka at approximately 0550am. Three engines, one ladder truck and two chief officers were dispatched. The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from a garage in the alley. Additional crews arrived and extinguished the fire. The garage sustained damage estimated at $7000. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and is not considered to be suspicious.
One Seventeen firefighters and one fire support member responded. The fire was controlled within twenty minutes from time of dispatch. Total time on scene was approximately two hours.
Arcata Fire Department provided one engine to cover the Humboldt Bay Fire jurisdiction.

Original Post: Eureka Fire dispatch has confirmed that there is a fire on the 400 block of West Sonoma Street. Reader Nicole Singer called it a “huge fire.” But Eureka dispatch said that they did not yet have any details they could release to the public as the fire crew was still on scene.
