Telegraph Ridge Press Release submitted by Peter Lawsky, Chief of the Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Company:
A little before 2 A.M. Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Dootyville Doodyville Road in the Ettersburg area. A residence of approximately 1000 square feet was on fire.
Fire was in the attic and had extended into the walls.
Telegraph Ridge firefighters fought the fire with two engines (5533 & 5548). An interior attack was made, and the fire might have been contained if there was more water available. Unfortunately the temperature was in the 20’s and water sources were frozen.
A mutual aid call was sent, and one engine each from Whitethorn Fire and Briceland Fire were dispatched. With the help of their water, the fire was eventually contained.
Although still standing with some rooms intact, the building is considered a complete loss. Some of the contents will be salvageable.
The residents escaped safely, and there were no injuries.
The last Telegraph Ridge engine and firefighters left at 5:30 A.M. Telegraph Ridge Assistant Chief Travis Strange was the Incident Commander.
Many thanks to all the Telegraph Ridge crew, and the Briceland and Whitethorn Fire Departments for their assistance.
