Humboldt Co. Sheriff Press Release:

On 12-06-2013, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an assault with a vehicle that just occurred in the parking lot of the Garberville Veterinarian Clinic. Deputies and a California Highway Patrol Officer responded to the scene. Upon their arrival they met with the 19 year old and 20 year old female victims, both from Garberville, along with a 48 year old witness. The victims were standing next to a white 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup truck with moderate front end damage. There was a significant amount of broken glass and vehicle debris on the ground near the pickup truck

The deputies spoke with the two females who told them they had been in a disagreement with Johnathan Boyd, 25 years old, from Garberville and his 19 year old girlfriend earlier in the evening. Later in the evening they saw Boyd was following them, so they turned into the Garberville Veterinarian Clinic parking lot and turned off their lights to hide from Boyd. The victims saw Boyd drive by the parking lot in his green 1997 Toyota Tacoma. After Boyd drove by, he stopped his truck, backed up and then abruptly drove into the parking lot at a high rate of speed and towards the 2005 Dodge Truck the victims were sitting in. He rammed the front of the victim’s truck, then Boyd and his girlfriend exited the Toyota truck and started pounding on the victims’ windows with their fists. Boyd and his girlfriend then left the scene in Boyd’s Toyota truck. The victims were not injured.

The 48 year old uninvolved witness who lives near where the assault occurred, saw the incident and told the deputies the vehicle assault was not an accident, it was intentional.

Deputies and a California Highway Patrol Officer located Boyd at his residence on Lower Sawmill Road. Deputies also located the Toyota truck at the residence which had major front end damage. Boyd told the officers it was an accident. Boyd was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run and reckless driving while under the influence. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $50,000.00.
