Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Press Release:

 

On 12-28-2012, approximately 6:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a burglary which has occurred in the 6100 block of Rohnerville Road, Fortuna. When the deputy arrived he met with the home owners. They told the deputy they left their residence at approximately 9:30 a.m. on that date. At approximately 4:00 p.m. that same day the husband was called by Umpqua Bank and informed someone had tried to use his debit card at the Bear River Casino Pump and Play. When the husband returned home at approximately 6:00 p.m. he discovered the front door to their residence was wide open. When he checked the residence he discovered the suspect(s) had entered through an unlocked front window. Examining his residence he saw it was ransacked and numerous items including computers, cameras, jewelry and other high value items had been stolen from the residence. The loss was estimated to be over $10,000.00.

 

After taking the report and conducting an on scene investigation, the investigating deputy spoke with Bear River Casino. The Bear River Casino located and furnished a video tape and still photographs of the suspect and another male using the victim’s stolen debit card to the deputy. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect and the other male who was with him at the Bear River Pump and Play at the time the debit card was used.
