Press release from Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 06-30-2013, approximately 2:00 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle attempting to purposely force another vehicle off the road on southbound US 101 near College of the Redwoods. The California Highway Patrol (C.H.P.) responded to assist.

When deputies arrived in the area they spoke with the victims, two 28 year old females. The deputies learned after speaking with them that one of the victims had recently divorced her husband. She had been staying with her sister in Eureka with her two children. While at her sisters residence she received several texts from her ex-husband Thuong Huynh, 34 years old of Eureka. She and her sister decided to leave the home they were at in Eureka with the children and leave the area. While they were driving south on US 101 in their 2004 Blue Chevy Mailbu they saw a 1995 dark Green Chevy Silverado pickup truck following them. The victims knew that Huynh had been driving a similar vehicle. Suddenly the truck drove up behind them and attempted to ram them. The truck then turned off its headlights and pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle. The truck then swerved at their vehicle forcing them off the road and onto the shoulder of the road. The victims were able to regain control of their vehicle and drove back onto US 101. The truck then drove ahead of the victim’s vehicle and stopped sideways in the middle of US 101 blocking both southbound lanes of traffic. The victims were able to pass the truck which again pulled in behind them and attempted to ram them again.

California Highway Patrol Officers located and stopped the green 1995 Chevy truck being driven by Thuong Huynh on Singly Road near the Bear River Casino. Huynh was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. His bail is set at $50,000.00.
