In response to questions from the public about a fire in the Wilder Ridge area yesterday, LoCO was able to reach Doug Bryan of the Southern Humboldt Fire Chiefs Public Information Team. While normally very forthcoming and helpful, he was uncharacteristically cryptic in his written answer which came in just after midnight last night. He wrote,
Telegraph Ridge and Cal Fire responded to a public assist call on Wilder Ridge… . While units were in route to the location, a fire was reported. A Cal Fire plane did respond to the fire call and was in the area near the incident. After Telegraph Ridge and Cal Fire arrived at the location, an investigation was initiated. Cal Fire will release details as they become available.
LoCO will continue to look into the story but we appreciate very much that Bryan was willing to respond in what appears to be a sensitive situation. We hope this response helps alleviate some of the concerns and we’ll work to find more answers.
