Eureka Police Dept. Press Release:

On 06/11/13, detectives from the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP), served a search warrant in the 900 block of Russ Steet. The warrant was served in response to numerous neighborhood complaints regarding suspected illegal activity at this location. At the time of the warrant service, one male and one female subject were contacted inside and detained.

During their search, detectives discovered a sophisticated indoor marijuana grow in the detached garage of the residence. It also appeared that the occupants were in the process of setting up a second large scale grow room inside the residence.

As a result of the investigation, 191 mature marijuana plants, which weighed approximately 75 lbs, were seized. Additionally, due to unsafe and unpermitted wiring and gas modifications made to the residence, PG&E responded and disconnect gas and electric service. Both subjects detained upon detective’s arrival were released at the scene pending further investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation, which will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office upon completion.
