In front of a raucous, sold out crowd at the Arcata Theatre Lounge Saturday night, Sunny Brae middle school teacher’s aide Eric Hall AKA Captain Awesome outshone 14 other competitors to be named the first evah Mr. Humboldt. 

Your Lost Coast Outpost served alongside Blondie’s blondie Johanna Nagan as cohosts for the evening which featured no shortage of gratuitous skin and male twerking. While it’s be hard to funnel the electricity in the room through your browser, local videographer Benjamin Bettenhausen gave it his damnedest with the clip below. Don’t worry, the SFW video chronicles one of the tamer points in the evening: the final formal wear competition, some dead space you may want to skip, and finally the crowning of your 2013 Mr. Humboldt.

Also, the NCJ‘s Bob Doran, as he tends to do, posted a ton of great shots from the night on Mark Zuckerberg’s baby. Check ‘em here, and again, thanks to everyone that came out to take in the speedos/raise funds for local nonprofits Women’s Crisis Shelter in Southern Humboldt (WISH), Humboldt Literacy Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast.
