UPDATE 1:05 A.M.: Monroe says, “All remaining resources not yet at scene have just been cancelled. The fire is not contained but they have a handle on it.”
UPDATE:12:55 A.M.: Monroe says, “The fire is reported by the incident commander to be two to three acres now.”
UPDATE 12:17 A.M.: Angie Gillam reports that she has heard four transformers blown. “When they blow it is so bright!” she explains.
UPDATE 12:13 A.M.: According to Monroe, “The fire has impacted power lines. Transformer blown and powerlines down. Additional resources have been requested.”
UPDATE 11:59 P.M.: Monroe says one acre fire in grass and light brush confirmed on Sawmill Road. The fire is “wind and slope driven.” There are Three Calfire engines and one Gaberville engine at the scene.
Original Post:Emergency equipment is headed to the site of a reported vegetation fire on Alderpoint Road near Sawmill/Mayhan Road, says George Monroe of the Southern Humboldt Fire Chief’s Association. The fire is reported to be already at a 1/2 to and acre in size. There are high winds which could add to the problem.
If you are on Alderpoint Road, Monroe said, use caution and be on the lookout for emergency equipment.
