From the Fortuna Police Department:
On November 24, 2013 at about 2:45 am, officers responded to the area of School Street and Thelma Street after receiving a report a several vandalized mailboxes in the area. Upon arrival, officer observed in excess of 20 mailboxes as well as additional property which had been vandalized.
Acting on information from alert citizens in the area, officers began checking the area on foot and later located two subjects hiding on the campus of Toddy Thomas Middle School. The two subjects (one adult and one minor) were detained and later admitted to the extensive vandalism.
Jordan Franks (Age 19 of Fortuna) was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges:
- Penal Code Section 647(f) – Public Intoxication
- Penal Code Section 272 – Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
- Penal Code Section 594(b)(1) – Felony Vandalism
- Title 18, Section 1705 of the United States Code – Vandalism to Mailboxes
The 17 year old minor was booked into Humboldt County Juvenile Hall on the following charges:
- Penal Code Section 647(f) – Public Intoxication
- Penal Code Section 594(b)(1) – Felony Vandalism
- Title 18, Section 1705 of the United States Code – Vandalism to Mailboxes
