The family of the Eureka man missing in the Mendocino forest since fleeing from law enforcement during a traffic stop says he has been located by family following the posting of a $20,000 reward. The family told the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office that after posting the reward an “undisclosed person” took family members to Artemio Garcia Chavez. He was confirmed to be “alive and well.”
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Chavez’s family declined to provide”any further details about where Artemio had been.”

On 11/5/2013 around 10:20 AM the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a family member of the missing person. He advised the family had posted a $20,000.00 reward for information leading to the location of the missing person and posted flyers in the Covelo area. Within a short period of time they were contacted by an undisclosed person who told them Artemio was at a known location nearby. The family was taken to the location where they confirmed Artemio was alive and well. The family member did not have any further details about where Artemio had been nor the person who had picked up Artemio and allowed him to stay with them until he was found by family members.
