PREVIOUSLY: Loleta Residents Evacuated, Reported Pipe Bomb

From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On 10-06-2013 at about 10:30 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Montgomery Street, Loleta regarding a possible explosive device found in the area.
Upon arrival the responding Deputies found what appeared to be a metal pipe bomb. The Deputies evacuated the area and requested the Humboldt County Bomb Squad respond to the scene.
The Bomb Squad was able to seperate the components of the suspected pipe bomb rendering it safe. Upon closer inspection, it was determined that the pipe bomb was a fully functioning device and if it had detonated, could have caused considerable damage to the immediate surrounding area.
