Humboldt Bay Fire Press Release:
Beginning the first week of September, through the end of November, Humboldt Bay Fire will start testing and flushing hydrants. Hydrant testing is done on an annual basis to check for proper operation of all fire hydrants, check water flow, and to flush inorganic material out of water lines.
During these operations, you may experience cloudy or rusty colored drinking water. The water is safe to drink and the color should clear within an hour.
If you are driving in the area of active testing, please watch for water on the roadway. Drive slowly though any water to avoid hydroplaning and losing control of your vehicle. Also watch for fire personnel conducing the testing.
If you have any questions, please contact Humboldt Bay Fire. 441-4000 .
