A single dwelling residence caught on fire earlier this evening on Pinecrest Drive in Eureka.  Humboldt Bay Fire responded at just before 8 p.m. to what a spokesperson said was primarily an attic fire. The structure had pretty significant damage explained the spokesperson. Firefighters had to cut holes in the roof.

Three engines,  a ladder truck and 16 crew members responded to the fire and quickly managed to get it under control. The fire was extinguished and the cause is currently being investigated. No other structures were damaged and there were no injuries.

Herrick Avenue was temporarily closed to traffic.

In this case, there was at least one instance of a person re-entering the home while the fire was burning. The spokesperson did not know why the person had gone back into the structure but he emphasized, “If you experience a fire, once you get out stay out.  We like to have everybody accounted for before we pull up,” the spokesperson said.
