UPDATE: According to the Eureka Police Department, shortly after 1 p.m. today the pedestrian “ran into traffic” from the east side of Broadway near the Tomlinson Street intersection. After being struck he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital. He is expected to survive.

A reader sent us the video above and photos below, which show concerned onlookers and emergency responders attending to a man who appears to have just been struck by a 1980s Volvo sedan in the southbound lane of Broadway in Eureka.

The man appears to be conscious in the video. You can hear people telling him to stay down. (Click photos to enlarge.)
