UPDATE, 10:08 a.m.: The Manila Community Services District is asking residents to conserve water, as their pump station is without power at the moment.

Whoa!
That quick blast of high wind and heavy rain that just hit the county kind of came out of nowhere. The National Weather Service just had time to issue an emergency warning. Then it was upon us, and just as quickly gone. The NWS thinks thing should start tapering off soon.
The scanner is going nuts right now with reports of trees and power lines down all around the county. The PG&E outage map is showing medium-sized power outages between Trinidad and Patrick’s Point, in areas of McKinleyville and Manila and Freshwater and Eureka and Ferndale, as well as smaller ones too many to name.
It sounds from the scanner that fire crews and PG&E are stretched to the breaking point at the moment. Each new “power lines down” call comes back with “no units available.” There are lines on the street, arcing, in near downtown Arcata and in several Eureka neighborhoods, as well as in Greenwood Heights, Elk River and probably dozens of other places.
We’re having a hard time keeping up at the moment. Put your situation report in the comments, please.
