Arcata Police Department Press Release:

On 2/01/2014 at about 12:17am, officers from the Arcata Police Department were dispatched to the Arcata Theater and Lounge (1036 G Street) on the report of a male subject having been stabbed during a musical concert attended by several hundred people. 

The victim was immediately transported to Mad River Community Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. 

With the aid of the theaters video surveillance, a male suspect was quickly identified and it was apparent that the suspect was still inside the theater.  Security personnel for the event were able to locate the suspect near the stage area.  Arcata Police Department officers, with the assistance of Humboldt State University Police and California Highway Patrol, quickly took the suspect, Eddy Armando Samayoa (age 29), into custody without further injury to other concert patrons. 

Samayoa was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for PC 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
