Ferndale’s volunteer firefighters competed in old-fashioned firefighting techniques such as the bucket brigade, quick dressing and hose coupling during the annual Firemen’s Games on Main Street yesterday.

The annual event, which takes place on Presidents Day weekend, has been in place since the 1950s. One regular game — water polo - wasn’t held this year, in order to save water.
