On Monday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.Explore North Coast presents Jeff Jacobsen, an alum of HSU, in an engaging evening talking about the sights and sounds and life history of local cetofauna – mainly gray, humpback and killer whales and more. Jacobsen is involved insome amazing projects and willintroduce the audience to hydrophones. Jacobsen recommends that, for discussion, members watch the documentary Blackfish.

Not necessarily victims of wasting disease, the sea stars were dumped up cliffside near the Scenic Drive Houda Point overlook. Yikes. One theory tossed around is they may have come from someone’s crab pot. Any other ideas out there?
