Water flowed and smoke rose in the wake of a single vehicle crash on West and 15th Street in Eureka this morning. About  7:45 a.m., someone’s morning went a bit awry. Sadly, car met fire hydrant and the result wasn’t pretty.

The Eureka Fire Department and Public Works responded to the scene. They’ll be dealing with a sheared hydrant for the next hour or so.

Avoid the area and make your life and their work a bit easier.
