Humboldt County Clerk-Recorder Carolyn Crnich just confirmed to the Outpost that the Election Office’s final count is in, and that the count on June 3 has held true. In the county’s most closely-watched post-election race, Chris Kerrigan came up short in his bid to unseat Virginia Bass.
Final tally:
- Bass — 2822 votes — 52.05%
- Kerrigan — 2587 votes — 47.71%
Meanwhile, SoHum’s school bond measure — Measure N — climbed up strongly post-election, but still fell short. It needed 55% of the vote to pass; it received at the end, 54.41 percent.
- Yes — 851 951 votes
- No — 797 votes
Seventy residents of the district cast ballots but did not vote in the election. The district’s tiny Mendocino County population went heavily against, with eight yes and 20 no votes.
Full results will be posted to the elections website shortly. The final tally will be taken to the Board of Supervisors for certification in the coming days.
