UPDATE, 9:40 a.m.: Brittany Kesterson of the EPD tells the Outpost that the pedestrian was crossing Fifth Street at K when the truck pictured made a left turn from K onto Fifth, striking the pedestrian, whom the driver did not see.

The pedestrian was taken to St. Joe’s with minor injuries.

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital this morning after being struck by a vehicle at the corner of Fifth and K streets in Eureka.

Brittany Kesterson, public information officer for the EPD, tells the Outpost that the call came into her office at 8:17 a.m. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital. Kesterson said that the investigation is still underway, and that more information should be forthcoming shortly.
