PREVIOUSLY: Be On the Lookout: Victim of Hit and Run Driver Had Bikes Stolen From Under Deck

From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 3-2-2014, approximately 1:00 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the victim of a residential burglary that occurred on 2-4-2014. The victim told the Sheriff’s Office they received second hand information that some of their stolen firearms were located at a residence in the 3600 block of Central Avenue, McKinleyville. The victim had heard that a man named Dawson Patrick was attempting to sell the stolen firearms.

Deputies were aware that Dawson Lee Patrick, 31 years old, had three warrants for his arrests for violation of probation and an additional warrant for his arrest for driving on a suspended license.

Deputies drove to the address provided by the victim and surrounded it. The deputies knocked on the front door or the residence. An occupant of the residence answered the door and allowed deputies to search the residence. Deputies located the bedroom which Patrick rented in the residence. They saw Patrick had a surveillance monitor in his bedroom, with the camera pointed at the driveway of the residence. The deputies could clearly see one of the Sheriff’s cars parked in the driveway on the surveillance monitor.

Deputies located Patrick hiding in a bathroom cabinet inside the residence. He was taken into custody on the outstanding arrest warrants. Deputies located over a hundred rounds of live ammunition in Patrick’s room, a loaded .30 caliber magazine, a loaded .22 caliber handgun and an orange pelican case which contained numerous items of jewelry. The jewelry and handgun were reported stolen from the residence on Letz Lane, McKinleyville on 2-14-2014.

Patrick was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on the four arrest warrants. He was also booked on new charges of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a loaded firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen property, unlawful possession of a magazine and resisting arrest. He is being held without bail.

The light metallic blue, 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with a matching canopy, California license number 5V44678, is still outstanding, along with other stolen property. The pickup truck has a 4 inch lift and there is a “Kneeland Helitack” and “Fear no fish” stickers on the canopy window.
