Arcata Police Department press release:
On 11/09/2014 at about 10:19pm, an officer from the Arcata Police Department conducted a vehicle investigation in front of CVS at 600 F Street. During the investigation, Eureka resident William Clifford Whiffing (age 21) was found to be on court ordered searchable probation for PC 245(a)(1) -Assault With a Deadly Weapon and H&S 11377(a) - Possession of a Controlled Substance.
During a search of the vehicle under the control of Whiffing, officers located a .44 caliber Ruger handgun, over a ½ pound of concentrated cannabis, 4 grams of suspected MDMA, over two grams of heroin and ammunition for the firearm.
William Clifford Whiffing was placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on the following charges:
- PC 29800(a) - Felon in Control of a Firearm
- PC 29815(a) - Restricted from Possessing a Firearm
- PC 29825(a) - Restrained Person In Criminal Protective Order Possessing Handgun
- PC 30305(a) - Felon in Possession of Ammunition
- H&S 11350 - Possession of a Narcotic
- H&S 11377 - Possession of a Controlled Substance
- PH&S 11357(a) - Possession of Concentrated Cannabis
- PC 1203.2 - Violation of Probation.
