Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release: 

On 09-02-2014, at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a local hospital emergency room regarding a 27 year old male stabbing victim being treated at the hospital. A deputy responded to the hospital and met with the victim who had been stabbed in the chest. The victim told the deputy at approximately 9:15 p.m. he and his 26 year old girlfriend were walking westbound on the sidewalk, in the 2600 block of Harris Street, Eureka.  As they walked they were approached by an unknown black male adult, in his mid- 20’s, approximately 5’ 8” tall approached them, walking eastbound on the sidewalk. As they passed the suspect, the suspect struck him in the chest with his hand. The victim did not see anything in the suspects’ hands as he approached or walked by the victim and his girlfriend. After being struck in the chest the victim felt a stinging sensation in the left side of his chest. The victim reached under his shirt and realized he had been stabbed with a knife or other sharp object. The victim walked to the hospital to seek treatment.

The victim was admitted to the hospital and is currently being treated for his injuries. His current condition is unknown.
