If you are like many Eureka residents who sleep in until 8 a.m. on a Saturday, you were just wakened by what sounded like a every emergency vehicle in town responding — slowly — to the entirety of the city on fire.
But it was not an emergency at all! It was only the EPD’s way of cheerfully kicking off “Shop With a Cop,” the annual event in which local police take disadvantaged kids out shopping for Christmas presents.
A full lights-and-sirens police convoy escorted the kids through town before they all wound up at Target.
