The powerful winds that blew through the county last night seem to have taken a good number of PG&E customers offline.

The largest of the current power outages is in Eureka, where an estimated 2,929 customers seem to have been taken out just before 6 a.m. Live map of the outage below, and automatic updates from PG&E at this link.

Meanwhile, another 800 customers are down in the Freshwater area. There are a couple of smaller outages in the Fortuna area, and several more in Fieldbrook, Pine Hill, Ferndale, Myrtletown and elsewhere.

Reminder: When the high winds blow and the lights flicker and die, the Outpost’s blackout-bot — http://lostcoastoutpost.com/outages/ — is going to have the most up-to-date information, taken automatically from PG&E’s internal outage tracker. Click the power outage of interest and see whether PG&E is on-scene yet, whether or not they’ve diagnosed the problem, and when they hope to restore service.
