José Patiño passed away on Nov. 28, 2015.  He was born in the mining town of Cerro de San Pedro on February 11, 1939 and was raised in the state of San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

José came from humble beginnings, but he always knew what he wanted from life and was not afraid to dream big.  When he moved to Los Angeles in the 1960s and was reunited with his longtime love, just as promised when they were first courting all those years ago, he married her.  Not one for sitting still, José enjoyed exploring, which led to many shenanigans.

A loyal friend, lover of nature, animals, good food, sweet treats, roses and a good laugh, José lived his life to the fullest.  When he moved to Humboldt County in 2006 and found himself surrounded by the woods and the ocean, he knew he had found the perfect setting for his last chapter.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, their son and two granddaughters.

A memorial will be held at the Samoa Women’s Club, 115 Rideout Ave. Samoa, on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m.  All who knew him are welcome to come. Attendees may bring him roses if they would like. If you want to contact the family please email 1omarpatino@gmail.com.
