There have been cases of people being upset at livestockowners shooting at their. Livestock owners are sympathetic to that we love our dogs but…we also love our cows. 

Legally we can shoot the dog. Then call Animal Control. They would be in charge of contacting owner. Legally the owner of the dog has to compensate the owner of the livestock. Up to 3 times the value of the animal. That might just be with brood animals. 

This can be challenging where they don’t want law enforcment to show up at their house.  Lots of times these situations get resolved neighbor to neighbor. My dad offered them puppies from some of our stock dog. They aren’t aggressive. Sometimes you have to call law enforcement.
