It may surprise some to learn that LoCO does not run every press release that plops into our swollen inbox. Sometimes events seem just a bit too bland to demand our precious pixel space. Take for example the Humboldt Bay Fire release below that came in just before 8 p.m. last night that notes a non-fire in a clogged chimney at a residence on Glenwood Street.
Zzzzz, right?
Well, no. Sure enough, several LoCO readers have contacted us today wondering why there was nothing on our site about all the sirens in Myrtletown last night. What was all that ruckus?
Sigh. Our bad.
So here it is: Humboldt Bay Fire’s most ho hum press release of the new year. Maybe we should hope for more releases like this:
Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire on Glenwood Street in Eureka. The first arriving unit found a single family residence with no visible fire or smoke to the exterior. On investigation light smoke was found inside. Fire crews identified the source of the smoke to a clogged fireplace chimney.
Fire crews removed smoke from the residence using fans.
No damage was caused and no injuries were reported.
Regular cleaning and inspection of fireplaces, woodstoves and chimneys are recommended to ensure proper and safe operation of wood burning heaters.
