Fortuna Police Department press release: 

On June 19, 2015 at approximately 10:23pm hours, officers with the Fortuna Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of 9th Street for the report of a man displaying a firearm. The call was placed by a frantic teenager who reported that the man arrived at her home, demanded to speak with her sibling and then brandished a handgun. The teenager was able to contact her father who notified the Fortuna Police Department.

Upon arrival to the area officers located a black pick-up parked outside of the reporting parties residence. Officers contacted a male subject who was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The subject was identified as 28 year old Scott Yadao of Fortuna. Yadao admitted to possession of a firearm and advised officers that the firearm was now located in his vehicle. A subsequent search of Yadao’s truck yielded a Glock 23 handgun, loaded with a high capacity magazine.

Yadao was placed under arrest for the following violations of law;

• PC 25400 (a) (1)- Concealed firearm in vehicle
• PC 25400 (a) (5)- Possession of a firearm by a narcotic offender
• PC 417 (a) (2)- Brandishing a firearm
• PC 1203.2- Violation of probation
• PC 32310- High capacity magazine

Yadao was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Jail without incident.
