California Highway Patrol press release updating LoCO‘s previous report of a bad accident near Weott: 

This morning at approximately 3 a.m., Teresa L. Lamberson of Trinidad was driving a 2014 white Ford Focus northbound on U.S. Highway 101 approaching mile post marker 35.00 in Humboldt County at an unknown speed. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford Focus left the roadway and collided with multiple trees, overturned, and came to rest within the southbound #2 lane of US-101. As a result of the collision the 55-year-old male passenger suffered fatal injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
