Teachers and staff at Alder Grove Charter School got a bit of a scare in the last hour, when hallways at the school’s F Street campus started to fill up with smoke.
No kids were at the homeschool-only charter school campus, which is behind the Morris Graves between Seventh and Eighth Streets, but all the adults in the building were quickly evacuated. The Humboldt Bay Fire District is still on the scene. A firefighter tells the Outpost’s Andrew Goff that they have located a problem with the ventilation system, and that there is no threat to the structure of the building.
A private repairman will be called to deal with the problem tomorrow.
