From the Eureka Police Department:

On 05/28/15 at about 9:39 a.m., The Eureka Police Department received a call that a male subject was causing a disturbance near the 1300 block of 7th Street and was holding a gun described as a semi-automatic with a black handle and silver slide.

At 9:43 a.m., an employee from a liquor store at the 1500 block of 5th Street called and reported that 10 minutes prior, a male subject had entered the business, pointed a gun at her, and demanded money.  The employee said she told him, “No!” and the subject left.  She said the male was last seen running to the rear of the business.  The description given matched the description of the male causing the disturbance at the 1300 block of 7th Street.

Officers responded and located a male matching the description in the immediate vicinity.  The subject was identified as Shannon Lee Stone, 45 of Eureka.  Officers located a BB gun pistol abandoned in a nearby bush.  Both callers positively identified Stone as the subject they encountered and one identified the pistol as the one Stone was holding.

Stone was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and charged with attempted robbery, use of a replica firearm causing fear, drug paraphernalia, and probation violation.  This is the fifth encounter EPD has had with Stone involving replica firearms since October 2014.
