If you are rolling to your midday classes at ye olde Humboldt State University, take note! The powers that be have decided to make it extra easy for you to snooze through today’s lectures.
Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the school will be staging “Power Down HSU!” in at attempt to model good energy consumption attitudes. Here is the pitch from a flyer circulating campus which includes some power reduction fashion tips:
Modeled after a “brown-out,” HSU will be consciously choosing to reduce energy consumption in order to lessen or energy footprint.
Take the pledge to lessen your impact as well! As part of this day — and everyday — we can amplify savings by making energy-conscious decisions.
Wear your funkiest sweater (or any sweater). Visit powersavehsu.com to pledge, and tag us on Instagram and Facebook to win.
Well, OK! That all sounds fine and dandy. [UPDATE: Follow along with students’ power-reducing exploits and funky sweaters on Instagram here.]
Interesting note, though. As LoCO reported last week, a student-organized campus-wide walk out is scheduled to take place on the UC Quad today at noon to push for a 5 percent faculty pay raise among other grievances. With campus buildings going dark, sounds like “Power Down HSU!” organizers might have just granted the protesters a larger audience. What about that!?
