From Humboldt Bay Fire:

At 0036hrs on 9/19/15 Humboldt Bay Fire responded with 3 Engines, 1 Truck and 2 Duty Officers to a reported Structure Fire at 1925 Harris St. in Eureka. The reporting party was the Eureka Police Dept., who discovered the fire on routine patrol.

The first arriving Duty Officer reported a single story residence 50% involved with fire and requested a 2nd alarm. Initial reports from the occupants of the residence indicated that one resident was unaccounted for. Interior fire attack was initiated in conjunction with a search of the interior of the residence. The fire was controlled in 15 minutes and no occupants were located inside the residence.

Humboldt Bay Fire units remained on scene for 3 hours overhauling the fire. Damage is estimated at $100,000 and one occupant was transported by ambulance to SJH for minor smoke inhalation. Humboldt Bay Fire was assisted by Arcata Fire District, who provided 1 engine and 1 Chief officer to the scene, and Samoa Peninsula Fire District and Loleta Fire District, who each provided 1 engine to cover the Humboldt Bay Fire response area during the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
