Original Post: Highway 101 at the Willits Grade is fully closed with no estimated time of reopening after a multi-vehicle car crash. Multiple agencies advise motorists to steer clear of the area while emergency responders tend to the scene. There have been reports of southbound traffic being backed up as far as where Highway 101 and Highway 20 merge. 

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page, the six-car collision involved a semi-truck. Several vehicles were reported to have been on fire and fuel was leaking onto the roadway. First responders reported two fatalities. CHP dispatchers called for a “long term closure.”
