Yesterday was the latest deadline for campaign fundraising reports for the three open seats on the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, and incumbents Rex Bohn (District 1) and Estelle Fennell (District 2) have raised the most money despite the fact that Bohn is running unopposed and Fennell’s challenger, Glen “Bud” Rogers, has yet to report raising a single dollar.

Bohn has raised more than $38,000 for his campaign, including $19,000 from a private, invitation-only cocktail party where the suggested donation was $1,000 per couple. (See the invitation here.)

But Fennell is the fundraising champ to this point, having amassed a war chest of nearly $45,000. The vast majority of that — nearly $35,000 — was raised last year, and many of her larger donations came from business donors.

In District 3, Harbor Commissioner/environmental engineer Mike Wilson has raised more than $30,000, far outpacing farrier Uri Driscoll’s total of $7,304. The two candidates are competing for the seat being vacated by Supervisor Mark Lovelace.

Bohn has the most cash on hand at this stage: His campaign balance as of April 23 was $30,329, which could buy a whole heckuva lot of baseball-shaped signs.
