From the Fortuna Police Department:

On August 11, 2016 at about 6:07 AM the Fortuna Police Dispatch Center received a report of a house (structure) fire on the 1300 block of Ross Hill Rd. Fire and Police responded to the scene and the Fire was extinguished by Fortuna Fire. The residence was un-occupied at the time of the fire.

The residents were contacted and responded to the residence. The subsequent investigation revealed that the residence had been burglarized and appears that after the burglary an intentional fire was set inside the residence. At this time it appears that several firearms and jewelry were stolen from the residence.

The Fortuna Police Department and Humboldt County Arson Task Force are investigating.
