Janet Ann (Potter) Torrano was born in Oakland, California on February 19, 1940 to Freda R. and Arthur E. Potter, and she passed away on July 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2011, and by both parents. She is survived by her sister Joyce Houston, brother Denis Potter, sister-in-law Julie Potter, nieces Tracy True, Lisa Houston, Miki Bekkari, and Dawn Reynolds, sister-in-law Sister Marianna Torrano, brother-in-law Peter Torrano, and nieces Anita Torrano and Barbara Hourigan.
Janet grew up in Castro Valley, Calif., where she was very active in 4-H, and an all-star in 1958. She worked at AAA in the Bay Area, where she met her future husband. They were married in 1967. They had no children. Janet and John moved to Arcata in 1976, and went into business, Travel Master, on South G Street repairing and selling RV’s. At various times during their married lives they had opportunities to do something they both loved, which was traveling and fishing in new and familiar places in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico with family and friends in RV’s.
In 2012 Janet moved to Timber Ridge in McKinleyville where she made many special friends and enjoyed friends she had made while in business. She was very happy in her residence there.
A memorial celebration will be held in the Timber Ridge Recreation Room, 1400 Nursery Way in McKinleyville, from 1-3 on Sunday August 28, 2016.
