The daughters of Irene B. Brown (Heazle), Teri Buck and Melody Brown, invite you to A Celebration of Life for Irene. Along with their husbands, Jason Buck and Frank Lehmann, as well as Irene’s beloved grandchildren, Christopher Lehmann, Joshua Buck, Gabriel Buck, and Rebecca Lehmann, they welcome you to join them on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Arcata United Methodist Church, located at 1761 Eleventh St., Arcata, CA. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bethany Cseh. A reception will follow immediately in the church Fireplace Room.

Irene was a kind and caring person. She always tried to make everyone feel welcome. She absolutely adored her four grandchildren, and the feeling was mutual. They feel very lucky that they were able to spend so much time with her. During our many conversations over the last few years, she often shared that she felt her life was indeed blessed. She said that she’d had “a very good life”, and looked forward to one day being reunited with her husband in heaven.

Irene was born in Salhouse, Norfolk, England on February 16, 1928. During World War II, she met her future husband, Melvin L. Brown, who was serving in the U.S. 8th Air Force, in Great Britain. After marriage in 1947, the couple settled in Salem, OR. In 1953, they moved to Arcata, CA, where they spent their remaining years. She was very active in the PTA at Bloomfield School, the Transatlantic Brides Association, the British American Club, the First Baptist Church and the Arcata United Methodist Church.

Irene went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2016 following complications from pneumonia and heart failure.

If you would like to remember Irene, in lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the Arcata United Methodist Church for a project to be selected at a later date.

Special thanks go out to Wendy Dresser, Susan Fowler, Joshua Buck, Janarie and Peter Ricchio, Rebekah Thurston, Celeste Pena, Ruby Clarke, Diane Walker, Janice Larenas, Linda Murphy, Rose Amirkhan, and the staff at Frye’s Care Home, for the compassion, care, and love that they showed our mother.

A separate service next year is being planned by Irene’s son.
