Get your frost scrapers ready Humboldt, It’s gonna be another chilly night.

The National Weather Service of Eureka has issued a hard freeze warning for costal areas tonight, as temperatures are expected to dip back down into the 20s.

A hard freeze warning means that sub-freezing temperature are highly likely. These conditions can kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. The warning will be in effect between midnight and 9 a.m.

Temperatures dropped into the 20s last night as well, freezing over car windshields and causing icy patches along roadways. Be alert while driving on potentially slick roads.

How cold did it get this morning?
Early morning minimums from 25 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit were widespread along the North Coast and across the interior river valleys of Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

The mercury dipped into the 20’s for much of Mendocino county except along the immediate coast where temperatures remained in the mid to upper 30’s through the night.

Central and eastern portions of Trinity county saw early morning temperatures in the lower to mid 20’s. The cold spot was 4F at Mumbo Basin around 5700 feet in far northeastern Trinity county.

It’s going to be another cold night for Northwest California under relatively clear skies and light winds. Temperatures will slowly moderate early to mid next week.
