Betty Jane Swanson was born September 5, 1923, and passed away on December 19, 2016.

Betty is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Diana and Dale McAlister of Fortuna, Pamela and Tom Caetano of Blue Lake; her grandchildren, Deedra (Chris) Ambrosini, Jim (Patty) Caetano; great-grandchildren, Nathan Ambrosini and Cody Caetano; numerous nieces and nephews. Mom is also survived by her dear friends Scott Sunderg, who played her favorite songs on the piano, Trudy Bull and Deb Wilson, her partners in bingo and dice, and Don, who took special care of her.

She is preceded in death by husband, Clarence (Pete) Swanson; her mother, Adelaide D. Mills; father, Robert E. Mills; son, Charles Nelson and her sister, Merle Cameron.

Mom was a very hard working woman. She worked at various locations throughout Eureka — the Barrel Factory, Lazio Seafoods, Eureka Seafood Grotto and West Coast Beauty Supply.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Eureka Healthcare and Rehab for taking care of Mom.

Honoring Mom’s wishes, there will be no services. Private interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery for family only.
