Gregory Allan Lovick passed from this life suddenly on December 29, 2015 at home in Shady Cove, Oregon. He was a most kind and loving person and will be missed by everyone who had been blessed to know the person he was. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his fun loving approach to life and that smile.

He was born in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois September 4, 1949. Greg worked in the printing industry most of his life and moved to San Jose, California in the late 1970s to work for House of Printing in Mountain View. He loved the adventure of the rugged California outdoors and explored northern California. He eventually came to Humboldt County to live in Fortuna, where he started his own commercial printing business; Graphic Arts Printing. Humboldt County is a tough place to make any business work, but he successfully ran Graphic Arts Printing for 25 years. He then went to work for Times Printing in Eureka, and continued there until he retired in 2013. He loved working at Times Printing because they are so giving and treated him like gold. He was a skilled professional with many creative, technical and mechanical skills.

Greg was a die-hard Cubs fan. When he was a little boy, his family home was near Wrigley Field. He would go down to Wrigley Field with his ball and mitt to bounce his baseball off the outside walls of the field. One of his most precious possessions is his baseball that was signed by ‘Mr. Cub’, Ernie Banks. He never lost hope in the Cubs. (Okay, well, maybe he did threaten to burn his hat a time or two…).

Greg was a “car guy” through and through. Some of his cars were a 1958 T-Bird, a 1969 427 Corvette, a chopped 1953 Ford F150 that he built from a rusted-out old farm truck and many more vehicles too numerous to mention. Greg was also a founding committee member of the Fortuna Redwood Autorama car show (now known as Fortuna Redwood AutoXpo) and he served many years and on different subcommittees of the organization.

Greg was a gentle, loving and kind husband, father, brother, son and friend and just a very sweet person.

He was preceded in passing by his father, Theodore Lovick and his mother, Anne (Lovick) Dehnert both of Chicago, IL. He is survived by his wife, Carlana (Car) Lovick of Shady Cove, Ore.; his brothers, Don Lovick and Glenn Lovick both of Chicago, Ill.; his step-son, Aaron Rice of Fieldbrook; his brother-in law, Preston (Terry) Richcreek of Eureka; his daughter, Lindsey Clayton King of St. Paul, Minn.; his niece, Lacy Lovick of Chicago, Ill.; his nephews, Chad Lovick and Wes Lovick both of Chicago, Ill. He is survived by numerous cousins from all over the country that he loved very much. He is also survived by many, many loving friends that he made wonderful memories with.

A celebration for his life will be held in Fortuna in the spring. The date and location is to be announced.
