A two-car collision on Broadway near the Bayshore Mall a few minutes ago has closed both southbound lanes. Traffic is being controlled by emergency personnel at the scene.

The Outpost’s Andrew Goff reports that the driver of the truck pictured below was in the turning from Broadway onto Truesdale, and did not see the white car going south, whose driver was carrying a three-year-old passenger. The truck turned directly into the path of the car.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. The man in the white car — Jeff Carver, 26, of Eureka — and his child were treated by paramedics at the scene. Carver declined to be taken to the hospital. “My daughter is OK,” he told the Outpost — though he believes his own wrist may have broken. He said he’d take himself to the hospital.

A tow truck is on scene.
